about us
"I know men and I tell you that Jesus Christ is no mere man. Between him and every other person in the world there is no possible term of comparison." --Napoleon
"I do not understand the mystery of grace--only that it meets us where we are, and does not leave us where it found us."
--Anne Lamott
Knowlton Presbyterian Church is a community of people who are convinced-- along with untold millions of people from sub-Saharan plains of Africa to the studios and offices of some of the great culture changers of North and South America, from the poorest two-thirds world ghettos to the halls of the greatest Asian nations--that Jesus Christ is the embodiment of Truth and Life itself. Not just a wise teacher, the Bible claims he was utterly unique in the most personal and ultimate way: "no mere man" as Napoleon put it. Different from every religious figure, Jesus didn't come to show you how to find God; he came to declare he is God in the flesh come to find you. Jesus says he is the Way to God. It is an astonishing claim that demands utter rejection or submission. It is a stark claim, even offensive. But consider this, as U2's Bono once put it: "The idea that the entire globe, one half of the human race, has had its history completely changed by a nutcase--for me, that's far-fetched." We invite you, whether you are a committed Christian, simply curious, or outright skeptical, to our worship services, our fellowship groups, or any of our events, as we consider the person of Jesus Christ--his claims, his life and death, and the effect he has always had and still has among people who put aside everything to know him as he calls us to do.
